Location is fabulous, excellent city centre position.
Staff have a good service reputation, only too happy to help
Rooms are basic, clean, functional. All are en suite.

Our Review

Unlike most budget hotels, the Grassmarket has the distinction of being housed in a listed building. A friendly property with a good reputation, it’s situated in the area of the same name: just off the Royal Mile, in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle. This means that it’s very central, but the surrounding area can be a little noisy at night.

Room was clean and warm but bathroom was drab looking with mould/dampness on the ceiling... rooms basic . hot water was very slow to reach room... Did find the hotel slightly 'grubby' but there were renovations being undertaken... shower cubicle was in need of grout replacement, the wash bowl was cracked and the toilet basin had a piece chipped out of it... room was ok... shower looked as if it wasnt cleaned in ages also no remote control for tv... bathroom was dirty ... rooms ok ... Room we had was clean but smelt musty and a bit damp ... bathroom walls were in a very bad state ... Adequate room... asked for a quiet room, and this was accommodated... room was in the attic ... walls were damp ... we were given had 2 single beds pushed together... Dirty and Seen it's day....
